Photo exhibition "The Rommel Myth"

Visitors at “The Rommel Myth” exhibition in Stuttgart

From December 2008 to September 2009, the Haus der Geschichte in Stuttgart hosted a huge exhibition of photographs and belongings of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel called "Rommel's Myth". The name of the exhibition reflects the fact that Erwin Rommel was used as an icon by the Ministry of Propaganda in the media, film, photography and radio.

The relevance of this exhibition in the 21st century is due to the fact that there are still discussions and there is no unequivocal opinion on the role of Erwin Rommel in the III Reich. In 9 halls with a total area of more than 500 m2, in addition to hundreds of photographs, the exhibition featured more than 200 exhibits, including personal items, medals and documents of the field marshal. Rommel's marshal's baton was also on display at the exhibition.
